Mayfield’s Medical Front Office Advanced program prepares graduates to work in front-office positions for a medical practice, healthcare facility, insurance company, and more.

Medical Front Office staff act as the glue that holds together all the other pieces of the health care experience and allows doctors and other professionals to deliver the best possible care to patients.

Skills you will learn:

  • Introduction to medical records, Electronic Medical Records, and Filing Systems.
  • Fundamentals and application of medical billing and coding.
  • Administrative and communication skills needed to manage a medical facility.

*Core classes prepare students for the industry-relevant certification tests that graduates must take and pass. The cost of one exam attempt per program approved certification is included in your tuition and fees.

Mayfield’s Medical Front Office Advanced program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training they need to begin a career in an entry-level medical office position.

Here are some things you may do:*
  • Electronically record data for collection, storage, analysis, retrieval, and reporting
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reviewing and assigning medical codes across a wide range of medical services
  • Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or forms, such as intake or insurance forms
  • Facilitate timely reimbursement by preparing and submitting claims with accurately assigned codes
  • Maintain medical records, technical library, or correspondence files
  • Effectively communicate using correct medical and insurance terminology in written and oral communication
